Russia and Ukraine Set for Prisoner Exchange on Saturday, Mediated by UAE, Sources Reveal

DUBAI, April 18 (Reuters) - A fresh prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine is scheduled for Saturday, with mediation from the United Arab Emirates, according to a source familiar with the discussions.

The swap will see nearly 500 prisoners from both nations along with 46 injured service members being exchanged, as per the insider's information.

Each side will release 246 detainees, the source confirmed.

Since the onset of Russia's invasion in February 2022, Kyiv and Moscow have regularly engaged in prisoner swaps, with the UAE facilitating 13 of these exchanges.

The Russian defense ministry has not yet commented on the matter.

In total, the number of individuals exchanged through the mediation of the UAE has reached 3,233.
